technology

As an independent optician we can invest in the latest technology and offer unique services that other high street opticians are not able to do. Some of this equipment can be found in hospital eye departments. As part of our Clinical Health Services we have ensured we have this up to date equipment so that we can share our diagnoses with our NHS partners and offer you, our patients the best care possible.

at our practices we have:

Digital Retinal Camera - If the optometrist feels it is necessary, a photo is taken of the retina (back of the eye), this allows the optometrist to conduct a more detailed inspection and monitor any changes from one visit to the next. If you are then referred to an eye specialist, the photo can be sent with your referral.

Visual Field Test - As part of the pre-screening process we use a machine to perform a visual field test, this is where we check your all-round vision and your peripheral eyesight, as loss of your field of vision is one of the main signs of glaucoma.

Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT) 3D Eye Scan - Both practices have an OCT machine, which performs an advanced 3D eye scan. Your optometrist will take both a digital photograph and a three dimensional cross sectional scan of the back of your eye.

The software can automatically detect even the most subtle changes to the retina with every eye test you take. This gives you an invaluable ongoing record of the health and condition of your eyes while also allowing us to instantly diagnose a number of common conditions. It also allows us to make comparative diagnoses and the scan can be sent to your hospital consultant.
